September 2015 Show: Earth, Fire, and Water

No theme, any subject matter is acceptable.

Open To:
All members of sponsoring organizations, Mint Hill Arts members and Pottery 51, and non-members.

Friday, August 28, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 29, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Best of Show: $200
First, Second, Third Places awarded in Watermedia and Pottery:
> First Place: $100

Awards for this show and for the August People's Choice will be presented at 8:00 p.m.

For members of sponsoring organizations, Mint Hill Arts and Pottery 51: $10 for up to four pieces.
For non-members: $30 for up to four pieces. Non-members are welcome to join at the time of intake. Contact either organization for membership details.

> 2-D work should be mounted, matted or framed and cannot exceed 48" x 48"
> 3-D work cannot exceed a 32" footprint x 7' in height

1. Watermedia Category: All 2-D work must be:
> Painted on watercolor paper, watercolor board, or synthetic paper (i.e. Yupo). No canvas is allowed.
> Created using water-soluble media; watercolor, gouache, ink, casein, egg tempera, acrylic. Watercolor crayon, watercolor pastel, and watercolor pencil are allowed if used in a water-soluble manner (i.e. the majority of lines and shading dissolved).
> Preliminary pencil marks are acceptable when used for planning only.
> No type of reproduction (prints, giclees, etc.) is allowed in this show.
2. Pottery Category: All 3-D or 2-D work must be wholly or in part clay/ceramics.

> Each artist may enter up to four pieces.
> All work must be original.
> Students may enter but only if the instructor has not touched the artwork. All work must be done by the artist.
> All work must be properly framed and wired (see below for more information). If your 2-D work does not require a frame, hanging must be thought out so it is ready to be displayed.
> All artists must fill out our Gallery Registration Form and affix our Intake Labels. See below for more information and links to these forms. It will save you time at Intake to print them, fill them out and bring them in with your artwork, but they will be available at Intake for those who choose to fill them out in the gallery.
> Will will accept all artwork unless it is unsafe to exhibit or shows very inappropriate subject matter. We welcome new faces and "unusual" artwork. Creative thinking and expression are the things that make your work special!
> Entering artists must be 18 years old or have written permission from a parent/guardian.
> All artwork must remain in the show until its closing. If you have an emergency and must remove your artwork, you must notify the Gallery Chair, Thea Barbato ( to make arrangements for the early removal

Mint Hill Arts requires a 20% commission on all work sold through our gallery. All sales are run through the gallery and checks are made payable to Mint Hill Arts. Commissions are paid within 30 days of the sale.

All proceeds from sales go to Mint Hill Arts, an all-volunteer non-profit art organization. You do not have to put your work up for sale; whether to sell, and the price of your work, is determined by you. All sold work can be picked up by the buyer at the end of each monthly show.
